Registration opens for the 2007 Oregon Economics Challenge Online

The Center for Economic Education at Mt. Hood Community College announces the opening of online registration for the 2007 Oregon Economics Challenge. Now all high school students can participate in this year's Economics Challenge Online at no monetary cost!

The Oregon Economics Challenge competition pits the sharpest high school students from around the state against each other in a test of their economic understanding and reasoning abilities. This year the Oregon Economics Challenge has introduced an online version so students from all over the state can participate in the qualifying competition. The online competition will take place anytime from February 26 through March 8.

Teachers should go to the program website (www.econchallenge.org), click on Oregon and register as a teacher. You can then create as many teams as you like. Your teams will compete online in two separate divisions: David Ricardo (for students enrolled in one-semester or less general economics courses which include introductory economic concepts) and Adam Smith (for students enrolled in AP-Economics, IB, honors, two-semester, or any other advanced courses in economics). Student teams may consist of up to four members. Ten teams from the qualifying competition will be invited to the State Finals on Thursday, March 15 at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham. To encourage participation from all over Oregon, travel stipends may be available for the State Competition.
